Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday arrested a typist of the Commercial Tax Department on charges of bribery.

The suspect is Srinivas Murthy, working at the Indiranagar office of the department. The complainant ran a computer training institute at Domlur and had been updating returns online. However, the firm could not upload the returns online in the last three months due to which the online username and password had been blocked by the Commercial Tax department. The complainant had approached the suspect at his office in Indiranagar requesting renewal of the username and password. The suspect demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000.

The ACB sleuths registered a complaint and laid a trap. Srinivas Murthy was caught red handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 5,000.
