The Bangalore Tourist Taxi Owners’ Association (BTTOA) has decided to support the Federation of Lorry Owners’ Association, in its proposed strike from June 1 against speed governors.
According to the association, it will be difficult to run taxis with a speed limit of 65 km per hour. The members said customers in a hurry will not be able to reach their destinations on time if they were forced to strictly follow the speed limit.
They also demanded relaxation of lifetime tax on cabs. The revision of the lifetime tax will hurt tourist taxi operators, as it will “...cost more than Rs 10 lakh, at the rate of 15 per cent of the cost of the vehicle,” the association has said in a press release.
