Guidelines for the transfer of government primary and secondary school teachers will be published on August 16.

“As we have made an amendment to the recruitment rules, we have made new guidelines for transfers. We will publish these rules after the Independence Day celebrations,” said Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait.

The amendment to the Karnataka State Civil Services Act (Regulation of Transfer of Teachers) was brought into effect from April 18.

Earlier, transfers could be done only for 5% posts with-in educational districts and inter-district transfers could be done only for 3% of the posts.

Amended rule

After the amendment, instead of the total 8% posts, transfers can be done for 15% posts.

The new rule also says that teachers who have been serving in the same post for more than 10 years have to be compulsorily transferred.

“We have already obtained all service details from teachers. We have also prepared a list of teachers who have to be compulsorily transferred,” an official in the primary and secondary education department said.
