A 38-year-old salesman in a textile showroom committed suicide by hanging himself at his Hosa Road residence near Electronics City on Friday night.
According to the Parappana Agrahara police, Sunil Gavaskar took the extreme step while his family was watching television in the drawing room.
The incident came to light when Gavaskar’s mother called him for dinner. She repeatedly knocked the door of his room, but there was no response.
The family members broke open the door and found Sunil’s body hanging.
His family members told police that Gavaskar had huge debts and was unable to repay them.
Gavaskar had also lost money in business and was in depression, which may have led him to take the extreme step, police added.
