This time, the actor has reached out to his numerous fans in India through a popular social networking site. The Knight and Day star recently turned 48 and birthday wishes poured in from all quarters, especially from his Indian fans via Facebook and Twitter.  
In lieu of this, Tom Cruise responded by tweeting, “A huge THANK YOU to the wonderful people of India for their birthday wishes and kindness. I’ll ‘see’ you at the movies (sic),” referring to his upcoming release Knight and Day.

Released in India on July 9, Knight and Day is an action comedy starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Cruise and Cameron play a fugitive couple on a race across the globe amid shifting alliances and unexpected betrayals. The film is also dubbed in Hindi as Knight and Day — Ek Khiladi, Ek Haseena.

Romance in Lanka

Every year the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) gives Bollywood a reason to celebrate and party together. This year, the award function is determined to set the tongues wagging vigorously with a story brewing at every corner. The latest gupshup doing the rounds that has caught the eye of quite a few is the Sri Lankan beauty in our desi Prince’s life.

This year at IIFA, cupid seems to have struck the angry young hero, Vivek Oberoi once again. According to our little birdies, our Prince was spotted spending considerable amount of time with the gorgeous Sri Lankan Jacqueline Fernandez. Now who wouldn’t fall for the doe-eyed beauty and Vivek only seems to be listening to his heart which had turned sour with Ash’s exit from his life. Now let’s see whether this time Vivek’s love blooms like a flower or disappears like a fragrance.

Set to scorch screens

The music for Hello Darling, a film by Subhash Ghai’s production house, is releasing on July 27. The film is all set to release on August 27. Three beautiful women giving men a taste of their own medicine while tackling a sexual harassment case. This is the plot of this light-hearted comedy. The movie stars Gul Panag, Eesha Koppikhar and Celina Jaitley along with Javed Jaffery and Divya Dutta playing a married couple.

Hello Darling is presented by Malpix Films for Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts Ltd. It is produced by Ashok Ghai and directed by Manoj Tiwari.

Other credits include music by Pritam, lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed, Kumaar and Ashish Pandit and choreography by Raju Khan, Remo and Raka-Ritchie with the director
of photography being Ravi Yadav.

The movie has been written by Pankaj and Sachin who wrote the blockbuster comedies Apna Sapna Money Money and Kya Kool Hain Hum.

Return to Pandora

Twentieth Century Fox and James Cameron recently announced that Avatar — Special Edition will be released in theatres worldwide on August 27 in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D.

This version of Cameron’s history-making and ground-breaking epic will include more than eight minutes of new footage. As a result of Avatar’s release in December 2009, the number of digital 3D screens has exploded and movie-goers, who missed experiencing the film in 3D will now have that opportunity.

Commented James Cameron, “Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora, and wished they could have stayed there longer. So we are making that possible. Avatar — Special Edition will be exclusively in 3D, and will have eight minutes of never-before-seen footage, including new creatures and action scenes. The Oscar and Golden Globe winning epic is the highest grossing film of all time, taking in over $2.7 billion in worldwide box office. Director James Cameron takes audiences to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilisation.

Tough journey ahead

National Geographic presents Perilous Journeys — Cracking The Ice Road on July 10 at 10 pm.

High above the Arctic Circle in Canada’s Northwest Territories, winter brings temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees.

But to residents here, the brutal cold is a blessing. It transforms rivers and lakes into frozen highways, linking remote villages to the outside world. But driving on ice is not without danger.

In this episode of Perilous Journeys, Marsh Mokhtari travels on one ice road to the northernmost village on the Canadian mainland. The stakes are high so Marsh must combine his modern technology with survival techniques that he learns from indigenous people along the way. If the ice holds, Marsh just might make it to his destination, the edge of the world.
