The event called as “freedom ride” saw members of the Royal Indians Enfield Owners Club (RIEOC) coming together to participate in the Independence Day bike ride.

The motorcade with thunderous noise and flashing headlights awakened every passer to the spirit of freedom. The ride started from Richmond Town and moved towards St Marks road then to Cubbon Park, Raj Bhavan, Race Course Road, Nrupatunga Road and went ahead to Hudson Circle, Lalbagh Road and finally culminated in Jayanagar 4th Block.

Biswajit Banerjee, president of RIEOC explains that the violence that is reported from across the country is very superficial which is entirely different from the ground reality. “Our recent bike ride to Srinagar was an eye opener. We did not witness any trouble in the Valley,” he said. “On this day it is very important to remember the contribution of the Army towards security of the nation,” said Lohit, member of RIEOC. “We saw army personnel deployed every 50 meters in Srinagar and they would brave all odd, remained rock solid. It is because of them we are safe here,” adds Lohit. The club which has more than 100 members also celebrated its 1st anniversary on sunday through this Freedom Ride.
