A man who posed as a guest at a convention hall took everyone for a grand ride and made away with gifts presented to the bride and bridegroom on September 23. The incident occurred at Radhabhai Thimmappa Bhandari Hall on West of Chord Road.

Vinay Gowda and Shruthi, residents of Basaveshwaranagar, got married on September 2. They hosted a dinner for their friends and well-wishers on September 23. A team of miscreants entered the hall and the members easily mingled with the people gathered there, said the police.

According to the police, one of the team members went on the dais and wished Vinay and Shruthi. He also engaged Shruthi’s father in a conversation. Soon, the lights went out due to a power disruption. Everybody presumed that the power disruption was due to load-shedding. The power was restored within minutes.

Shruthi and her father realised that Shruthi’s mobile phone was missing and also a few gifts kept near Shruthi’s chair. After the ceremony, they analysed the video content and spotted the man who had wished Shruthi’s father, collecting the cellphone and gifts and slowly walking away, added the police.
