Thieves broke into a house and made away with 400 grams of gold and foreign currency while the inhabitants were away in Goa.

On Saturday, Rathna Mari Puttanna, a resident of Guttahalli, and his family travelled to Goa to attend a ceremony. When they returned home on Monday night, they found the window grille in the drawing room broken.

They went in and found the house ransacked and noticed the cupboard in the bedroom damaged. When they checked, they found that gold jewellery worth 400 grams and 500 bills of US dollars were stolen, said the police.

They informed the police who visited the spot along with fingerprint experts. Someone, who had kept a close watch on the house for a long time has committed the crime, the police added.
