Three boys drown in Hennagara lake

Three boys drowned to death when they went for a swim at Hennagara lake near Anekal on Sunday.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Santosh, 13, an 8th standard student of Swami Vivekananda School in Chandapura, Chethan Kumar, 10, a 4th standard student of Rajapura government school. Santosh and Chethan Kumar are both residents of Rajapura.

The third victim is Ganesh, 6, a 3rd standard of Brindavan school in Jigani and a resident of Bannerghatta. Ganesh had come to his relative’s house at Rajapura to celebrate the Varamahalakshmi festival.

On Sunday noon, the three of them, along with Karthik, went to Hennagara lake to play. Karthik decided to stay back while the three ventured into the lake and began playing in the water. The trio went a little further into the water but started drowning.

Karthik, who noticed them drowning, rushed back to the village and alerted their family members. The family members rushed to the lake and tried to search the trio, but in vain.

The Jigani police, along with the Fire and Emergency Service personnel, searched the bodies for three hours and finally retrieved them. A case has been registered at the Jigani police station in this regard.
