The threats were issued via encrypted emails to the college administration.

The police have refused to reveal the names of the colleges. However, it is learnt that an engineering college and a fine arts institution received the threats. The Bengaluru bomb disposal and canine squads conducted extensive searches on the premises.

Three separate FIRs have been filed in the case. While reports suggested that more than 14 colleges and universities in Bengaluru received bomb threats, a top police source confirmed to DH that they were informed about only three.

In November 2023, more than 70 schools in the city received bomb threats. The police are yet to crack the case.
