Three persons allegedly committed suicides in separate incidents in the City on Sunday. Elumalai, hailing from Tamil Nadu, hanged himself to death at his relative’s house at Koodlu Gate in HSR Layout police limits. He had failed the PUC exams and was upset over this. Police said this may have led him to take his life.
In another incident, in Jnanabharati police limits, Saraswati, 52, a resident of 9th main in Nagarabhavi, was found hanging at her house. She was staying with her son Preetam and his wife. The family hails from Somwarpet and settled in Bangalore after Preetam got a job in the City, the police said.
Saraswati’s husband died two years ago and she had gone into depression since then. Preetam and his wife had gone out on Sunday. The incident came to light when the couple went inside one of the rooms, searching for Saraswati. She had hanged herself with a saree from the ceiling fan, the police said.
In a separate incident at Kungunte in Papareddypalya, Nagarabhavi, in Jnanabharati police limits, Satyanarayana, 65, a security guard with a readymade garments factory and resident of Kungunte, was found hanging from the ceiling at his workplace. He took the extreme step allegedly due to a financial crunch.
Body found
A 20-year-old youth was found murdered near a water tank in JJ Nagar police limits on Monday. The victim was identified as Mohammad Subhan, a native of Bihar. He was staying at Hale Guddadahalli with a few men from his state and was employed at the embroidery section of a saree factory at Chickpet, police said.
A few local residents noticed a stuffed gunny bag lying near the water tank at Padarayanapura. They immediately alerted the police who rushed to the spot and opened it.
Police established the identity of the victim based on a piece of paper found in his trouser pocket.
“The assailants have slit his throat. We have informed the family members about the murder and are on the lookout for the killers. The motive is yet to be ascertained,” said a police officer.
Houses burgled
Miscreants decamped with gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from a house in Hanumanthanagar police station limits on Sunday. There was no one in the house at the time of the incident.
The theft came to light when M C Ravikeerti, 44, a resident of 17th main in Banashankari, and his family returned home. Gold valuables worth Rs 9.98 lakh were found stolen.
Thieves burgled a house in Ashok Nagar and fled with valuables when the family was away for a wedding. Syed Azam Raja, a resident of Wellington Street, Richmond Circle, and his family returned home on Sunday afternoon to find cash, valuables and jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh stolen. Ashok Nagar police have registered a case.
