The stray dog menace once again raised its ugly head in the City with a three-year-old girl being bitten by a rabid dog at KR Puram on Monday afternoon.

Poorvi is now being treated at the Satya Sai Baba Orthopedic and Multispecialty Hospital at KR Puram. Her condition is said to be serious and doctors have kept her under medical supervision for three days.

According to her father, Satish, who works as a lab assistant in Cambridge College, Poorvi was playing outside her house when the dog came and bit her below the eyes, nose, lips and also at the neck.

Hearing her screams, her mother Hemavathi came running out only to find her badly injured daughter lying on the ground. She was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Satish said the doctors have given her necessary medication to prevent the spread of rabies.

They have decided not to stitch her wounds for three days and will keep her under strict medical supervision.
