The Bengaluru traffic police (BTP) are planning to prepare a list of top traffic violators in the city again. Last year, the BTP had named 500 traffic violators with multiple cases and those who failed to pay fines.

The police will come up with a fresh list of top offenders in two weeks.

Speaking to DH, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru, R Harishekaran said, “I have already instructed the officials to consolidate the list of top traffic offenders and vehicles. Released the vehicle numbers, the name of owners and address of the violators.”

“We will also form a special task force to identify the vehicles and their owners. This team will track the offenders and collect the penalty dues,” he said.

In August 2017, the traffic police had released the names, vehicle registration numbers and addresses of lawbreakers. Sources in the traffic police said, “Last year, we had consolidated a list of 500 people who violated traffic rules. These 500 had 19,729 traffic offences against them. The move is also allowing us to create traffic awareness among the public.”
