Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) collected Rs 9.48 lakh in fines during a special drive on Thursday.

The highest amounts of fine (Rs 6.39 lakh) were collected from 1,279 two-wheeler riders for riding without helmets.

As many as 455 vehicle users were booked for violating the no-entry rule, 85 for triple riding and 77 for riding on the footpath. 

Police said they would continue to hold the special drives to make the city roads safer by stringent enforcement of traffic rules.
