A service engineer sleeping in a makeshift container box office in a pit at a Metro construction site near Tin Factory on Old Madras Road was crushed to death after a sand-laden truck fell into the pit on Friday.
The deceased, Sonu Singh (32), a native of Delhi, was a contract employee with the BMRCL.
According to the police, truck driver Ramanjaneya, who was heading to the city from Hoskote, slept at the wheel.
The truck hit barricades and fell into the pit on the container box office, killing Singh on the spot.
The KR Puram Traffic police have registered a case of accidental death due to rash and negligent driving.
