In an act of honesty, two travelling ticket examiners (TTE) on the Bengaluru-Nagercoil Express returned a bag containing cash and valuables found on the train to its owner.

Railway authorities contacted passenger K Umarani and handed over the belongings to her on Monday at the office of senior divisional commercial manager in the City.

Umarani could not thank the duo, K Giriyappa and Rajeev Kumar, enough for not only keeping the bag safe, but also tracing her and handing it over to her. The railway officials lauded the two TTEs for their honesty.

On March 7, Umarani was travelling from Madurai to Dharmapuri on the Nagercoil-Bengaluru City Express (Train Number 17236) when she forgetfully left behind her bag containing Rs 1.93 lakh in cash, 45 gm gold ornaments, a Samsung mobile phone and a Titan wristwatch in coach S-8.

When Giriyappa and Kumar spotted the bag, while on duty on the train, they brought the bag with its contents and handed it over to the sleeper depot office at the Bengaluru City Railway Station.
