Two get jail term for drunk driving

The Metropolitan Magistrate Court in City, on Tuesday, sentenced an autorickshaw driver and a bike rider for two days’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 3,500 and Rs 1,500 respectively in drunk driving cases.

According to the police, Saravana, 38, a resident of Pipeline Road and an autorickshaw driver was driving his vehicle in an inebriated state. He was stopped by Yeshwantpur traffic inspector Swaminathan while he was moving on the flyover. Saravana was subjected for alcometer test and he was found to be drunk, said the police. During his background verification, the police learnt that he was caught for a similar offence in September. The police seized his autorickshaw as it was his second offense.

In a similar incident in KS Layout traffic police limits, Nandish, 30,  was found riding his bike under the influence of alcohol on Saturday. Nandish’s background verification revealed that was he was caught for drunk driving in July and was fined, added the police.
