Two killed in separate accidents in City

Two men were killed in separate accidents in the City since Friday night.

A biker died after his two-wheeler was struck by a bus late on Friday night on Dr Rajkumar Road, Rajajinagar IV Block. The deceased, identified as Manjunath Gupta, 29, was a resident of Subbanna Gardens.

Gupta was on his way to Vijaynagar when a speeding private bus rammed his bike from behind. Gupta was flung from his vehicle and sustained severe head injuries.

He was rushed to a private hospital nearby where he succumbed to his injuries early on Saturday morning. Magadi Road traffic police have registered a case and are investigating. The bus driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot soon after the accident.

In another incident, a ragpicker was killed by a speeding container lorry near Garebavipalya in the wee hours of Saturday. The deceased, who is in his early 20s, is yet to be identified.

Police sources said the accident scene indicated that the victim was riding a tricycle when the lorry hit from behind, killing him instantly. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

Madiwala Traffic police have registered a case.
