Two overstaying Angolan nationals deported

Two Angolan nationals, who were overstaying in the City with expired visas, were deported to their country in Africa.

Aguiar Antony Tchucombe and Mariano Francisco Tchucombe had come to the City to pursue higher education and enrolled themselves at Cavalier Animation and Media Institute. Their visas had expired on July 13, 2014. The duo was taken into custody and produced before the Foreigner Regional Registration Officer. They were each imposed a fine of Rs 9,800.

P Harishekaran, Additional Commissioner of Police (West), said: “We decided to act tough against foreign nationals who are overstaying. The Hennur police acted on definite leads and arrested the duo. There are reports that several foreigners have failed to renew their visas and are overstaying in the country. We will identify such foreigners and take action.”

Motorcyclist killed

A 22-year-old bike-borne youth died on the spot after he was knocked down by a BMTC bus at Mayura Circle in JP Nagar on Tuesday evening.

The victim, Praveen, a resident of JP Nagar, was employed as an executive in a car showroom.

The accident occurred at 5.30 pm when he was on the way to his office. He fell off his two-wheeler as the bus collided with his vehicle. He came under the wheels of the bus and died on the spot.

The bus driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, said the police.
