White puffy foam, carrying unbearable stench, has filled the lake, worrying local residents and spreading fears of a public health hazard.
"For the past three days, I have been seeing the froth rising in the lake. On Friday, the froth rose to a high level," said Pravir, a member of Whitefield Rising, a group of citizen activists. "There is a sustained flow of untreated sewage and industrial waste into the lakes."
The last time the lake frothed was during the monsoon. Residents want the authorities to look into the matter before the matter reaches a dangerous level.
