Referring to a front-page report under the headline “Rural folks lack etiquette, says VC”, Prabhu Dev said his remarks on students from rural areas were indeed a reference to “introduction of soft skills development in spoken English/computer peripherals and language lab, to improve their presentation in interviews.”
The headline of the said news item, he said, conveyed a “callous attitude of VC towards the rural folk which is absurd and reckless” and hurt the sentiment of the University faculty in general and the VC in particular.
