N Basavaraju, the office administrator of Vibgyor High school, Marathahalli, has said that the statements he gave to the police have been distorted.

In an affidavit before the High Court on Thursday, Basavaraju said that the statements made by him on July 22, 2014, before the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Airport Road sub-division, had been distorted.

Basavaraju said that, after Rustom Kerawalla met the parents on July 17, he certainly did not state that Kerawalla called him (Basavaraju) separately and told him that nobody from the school shall furnish any information to police with regard to the alleged sexual assault on a six-year-old student. Kerawalla is the founder-chairman of the school.

Basavaraju, in his statement, said that Kerawalla asked the staff of the institution to render all assistance to the police for proper investigation of the crime.

The affidavit states that Kerawalla also instructed the members of the staff to be more vigilant and to ensure safety of the students. Justice A N Venugopala Gowda directed the government and the victim’s father to file an affidavit and adjourned the hearing to December 16. Kerawalla has moved the High Court seeking directions to quash proceedings against him in the lower court.
