Vintage cars to rally for women's safety

 Come Sunday, grand old cars and bikes such as Lanchester, Hillman, Plymouth, Wolseley, Morris and others will rally in the City.

The occasion will be to create an awareness on ‘respect and safety for women.’ The event has been organised by the Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club in association with the ITC Hotels, Bangalore and Kingfisher.

The secretary of the Club, Dr Ravi Prakash told reporters on Wednesday that the State has an invaluable vintage and classic cars and bike collection, which has been preserved by the members of the Club.

He said there will be 55 cars and motorcycles in the awareness drive. Lanchesters, Daimlers, Jaguars, Mercedes, MG's, Fords, Chevrolets, Desoto's, Austin's, Morris' etc, which were used by the erstwhile Maharajas, industrialists and other noted celebrities of yesteryears will be part of the drive.

The event will be flagged off by Home Minister K J George at 10.30 am at ITC Windsor and will end at Hotel ITC Gardenia at 1 pm.

Personalities from various fields including B Saroja Devi, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Rani Satish, Jija Harisingh, Vani Ganapathi, Rohini Nilekani, Prema, Reeth Abraham Ashwini Nachappa and Nisha Millet will be present.
