The Organisation for Rare Diseases India (ORDI) has announced a walk for awareness about rare diseases.

Dr Prasanna Kumar Shirol from ORDI said that they are organising a 'race for 7' programme to create awareness about rare diseases on February 25.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he said that one in every 20 people in India suffers from a rare disease. Approximately half of them are estimated to be children. These diseases sometimes cause damage to life. So the purpose of this programme is to raise awareness about those suffering from rare diseases and the challenges they face.

The event starts at the St Joseph's Indian High School at 6.30 am. There will be a 7 km walk in Cubbon Park. Through the walk, the organisation aims to raise awareness about 7,000 rare diseases, he said.
