In the wake of diversion of vehicular traffic to Cubbon Park from K R Circle, Cubbon Park Walkers’ Association (CPWA) filed a complaint with Lokayukta on Tuesday.

The association, represented by its president and advocate S Umesh, submitted the complaint to Lokayukta  P Vishwanatha Shetty.

The case has been filed against the commissioner of police, BBMP commissioner, deputy commissioner traffic and commissioner of horticulture department, for granting permission for the movement of vehicles via Cubbon Park for 24 hours.

Noise pollution

The complaint states that due to the work for upgrading Nrupatunga Road undertaken by the BBMP, the traffic and Horticulture authorities have granted permission for the movement of public vehicles inside the park on Central Library route junction for a period of 45 days, starting Tuesday. It further said that the move will cause nuisance, noise  pollution in and around the park premises.

“A large number of people visit Central and Children’s libraries. If the vehicles are allowed 24 hours in Cubbon Park, it will disturb the visitors and flora and fauna inside green lungspace will be affected,” Umesh said.
