The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which operates KIA, stated that the issue was quickly identified and resolved.

"On the evening of January 1, 2025, a potable water pipeline at Terminal 2 of the BLR Airport experienced a leak. The issue was promptly identified and swiftly resolved. The leak affected a few back offices; however, there was no impact on airport operations," according to a BIAL spokesperson.

BIAL further mentioned that alternate office spaces were provided to the affected airline partners during the repair work. "We regret any inconvenience this isolated incident may have caused and reaffirm our commitment to the comfort and safety of all our stakeholders," the statement added.

Not the first time

This is not the first water-related issue at the terminal.

On May 2, 2023, water seepage was reported following 9.8 mm of rainfall, which airport authorities described as "heavy".

Terminal 2, constructed at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 11, 2022, and commenced operations in January 2023.
