Traffic snarls along the Outer Ring Road may worsen in the months to come as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is all set to begin white-topping work here.

Traffic diversions at various stretches on the road could result in slow-moving traffic as well. This comes after the BBMP officials managed to get the approval of the Bengaluru Traffic Police who had previously denied support for the proposed projects of white-topping several stretches in the city.

With the proposed stretches connecting key locations, concerns were raised about traffic management. Following consent by the traffic police, 27 roads, including 97 km on the Outer Ring Road, were proposed to be white-topped.

The Palike has proposed white-topping work from Hebbal flyover junction to Hennur Road junction between August 27 and November 11, and from Sumanahalli flyover
junction to Nayandahalli junction between August 27 and October 26. Traffic diversions are being proposed on these stretches. Vehicles plying from Hebbal flyover junction towards Hennur will be diverted on the left side service road and one lane in the main carriageway.

Vehicles from Sumanahalli junction will have to take the left side service road to reach Nayandahalli junction according to a note by the executive engineer, project central, BBMP.
