Bengaluru: A 25-year-old man was arrested in southeastern Bengaluru after posting an objectionable video against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, officials said on Tuesday.
The arrested has been identified as F Nawaz, an electrician residing at a paying guest accommodation in Mangammanapalya near Bandepalya.
The police said that Nawaz recently uploaded a video on a social media account, going by the name 'Public Servant'.
“In the fight between India and Pakistan, why has no bomb fallen on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence?” Nawaz is heard saying in the video, accessed by DH. “The PM is causing problems for the citizens. First, bomb his house.”
As the video went viral, the police's social media monitoring wing took suo motu cognisance of the matter, and a case was registered at the Bandepalya police station.
Nawaz was subsequently identified, tracked, and arrested. He was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
Police sources said that Nawaz claimed that he believed the Prime Minister was responsible for the tension between the two nuclear-armed neighbouring countries, prompting him to make the video.
He has been booked for creating a public nuisance and promoting enmity between different groups, and under relevant sections of the IT Act.
Further investigation is underway, the police said.
