The wife of a Bengaluru-based techie plotted his “cold-blooded” murder just a week after their marriage. The Vizianagaram police in Andhra Pradesh have arrested the woman.
Yamaka Gowri Sankara Rao, of Chittapallivalasa village in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, was a techie in Bengaluru and got married to Saraswathi on April 28. Saraswathi is from Kadakella, a nearby village.
On May 7, the couple planned a one-day trip to Parvathipuram in the neighbouring Vizianagaram district on their bike.
During the day, Rao got his bike serviced and the couple also bought some jewellery.
While returning to Chittapallivalasa, around 7.30 pm, Saraswathi asked Rao to stop the bike near the ITDA park at Totapalli.
Rao, who went to attend the nature’s call, was attacked by some men with an iron rod. He died on the spot. The assailants fled with jewellery. Police became suspicious of Saraswathi as she was left unscathed and still had some of the jewellery.
Their suspicion grew as the woman began giving different answers at different times. She later confessed to the crime.
Help of history-sheeter
Assistant Superintendent of Police Deepika Patil said Saraswathi never liked Rao and had sought the help of her friend Siva to get him murdered after the marriage. Siva, in turn, took the help of a local history-sheeter Gopi, who executed the plan.
Saraswathi had asked Rao to stop the bike at the designated area where the murder was planned.
