Bangalore University vice-chancellor Venugopal K R on Wednesday said that none of the BU students, who are presently studying in the Bangalore Central University (BCU), will be relocated to the Jnanabharathi campus.

Students who completed first year of the post-graduate course in MA Journalism were left in the lurch after a few people speculated their relocation to the other campus, which is 12 km from BCU.

"It's clearly mentioned in the order that none of the students should be relocated. They should complete their course in the BCU campus only. Students who are joining for first year PG in BU should be attending the classes in the Jnanabharathi campus. There is no confusion in this regard. Students need not worry," Venugopal told DH.

The second year students of MA Journalism will be completing their third and fourth semesters in the BCU campus this year. "It's a tough task for our faculty to visit two campuses, but still this should be managed for one more year. Our faculty are also ready for this. There is no option for relocation of students," stressed Venugopal.

BCU registrar Ramchandre Gowda said: "We have to follow the rules and we have never asked any BU student to shift to the Jnanabharathi campus. We don't know who has spread such false news. Someone wanted to tarnish the image of the universities."

BCU will not be conducting any communication courses for the 2018-19 academic year, quoting lack of faculty and resources.
