Taking a cue from its Mumbai counterpart, Bengaluru City Police is doing it's bit to caution social media-savvy citizens to stay indoors and stay safe as Bengaluru reels under the impact of coronavirus.

On social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram, Bengaluru City Police used references to popular sitcoms like Friends, How I Met your Mother, and Schitt's Creek and their characters to ask people to follow Covid-19 protocols in the city. Using the hashtag #ArrestCorona, the Bengaluru Police is trying to spread awareness about the Covid-19 pandemic in the city.

Using Barney Stinson from popular sitcom How I Met your Mother, Bengaluru Police asked people look out for friends and also ensure that they are following Covid-19 protocols by tweeting, "Dude, where's your suit, mask?"

In a similar tweet, urging people to work together to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, Bengaluru City Police referenced the television show Friends, and said "Dear F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Bengaluru, there is nothing we can't do together as a team."

In yet another tweet, the cops posted a picture of David Rose from the popular show Schitt's Creek and said, "David knows Covid-19 sucks. David puts his plans away and stays in. Be like David!"

In a bid to connect with more people and the youth, Police's Twitter accounts also used The Big Bang Theory character Dr Sheldon Cooper and Captain Holt of Brooklyn-Nine-Nine, to drive home the point: it is an adverse situation but the pandemic is deadly and we must each do our bit.

"For the record, it would kill us to be meet people," Dr Cooper seemed to be saying. He couldn't be more right.

"We're more proud of Bengaluru than Captain Holt is of nine-nine," City Police tweeted lauding efforts of its citizens

"We’re all a little like the world’s best boss these days, but we’ll overcome this. Remember to care for yourself and unplug from the information overload whenever you need to," a tweet said with a picture of Michael Scott of The Office.

The police seem to be fans of The Office themselves as references to the popular TV show have surfaced on their account before:

On Saturday, Karnataka crossed the six-lakh mark in active cases with the state reporting 41,664 cases. Bengaluru showed a dip in cases and reported 14,316 on Friday.
