A woman whose husband was killed by her brother last month because he belonged to a different caste has reportedly committed suicide.
Meenakshi, 27, had fallen in love with Harish in college. She belonged to the Thigala caste while he was from the Nayaka community. Meenakshi's family, especially her younger brother, Vinay Kumar, 22, opposed the relationship. But she didn't pay heed and married Harish who became a cab driver to make a living.
On November 21, Kumar called up Harish on the pretext of talking about something and hacked him to death. Police arrested Kumar and Meenakshi testified against her brother.
On Thursday, after returning from the police station, Meenakshi returned to her husband's house at Bidaluru, Devanahalli, and hanged herself.
