Bengaluru: A woman was allegedly murdered by her estranged husband's friend, who later died by suicide at her home on the outskirts of Bengaluru, the police said on Wednesday.
The deceased are Mandira Mondal and Suman Mondal, both aged 27, the police said.
The police said that Suman visited Mandira’s house in Thirupalya on Tuesday evening. A suspected fallout in their relationship led to an argument, after which Suman slit Mandira’s throat and then hanged himself.
The bodies were discovered later in the evening, and the police were alerted.
Inquiries revealed that Mandira had separated from her husband, Bijon Mondal, two years ago, after eight years of marriage. Their six-year-old son, who lived with Mandira, was at her parents’ house nearby on the day of the incident.
The police said that Suman and Bijon had travelled to Andaman and Nicobar Islands last year in search of work. Suman returned to Bengaluru 15 days ago and reconnected with Mandira.
The Hebbagodi police have registered a case of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are investigating. The deceased were originally from West Bengal and had moved to Bengaluru years ago for livelihood.
