Bengaluru techie loses Rs 1.4 lakh after clicking Telegram link for online call girl service

Bengaluru: A techie in Central Bengaluru lost over Rs 1.4 lakh after being allegedly cheated by an online call girl service.

The High Grounds police registered the FIR on July 29.

The 24-year-old software engineer had clicked a link on Telegram that connected him to someone, who identified herself as Ishani Reddy.

Ishani claimed to offer call girl and spa services and asked him to pay Rs 299 to begin. After the initial payment, he was repeatedly asked to transfer more money under various service charges. In total, he sent Rs 1,49,052.

When he requested a refund, stating he no longer wanted the services, his appeals were ignored. He then reported the matter on the national cybercrime portal and filed a complaint with the High Grounds police.

A case has been registered.
