A 27-year-old woman pillion rider died on the spot after a speeding truck ran her over on Thursday near Nelamangala.

The victim, Asha K S, a resident of Thyamagondlu in Nelamangala, was riding pillion with her three-year-old son Sathwik Gowda. He husband, Manjunath, was riding the bike.

A senior police officer said the family was returning home after visiting a relative. Around 7.30 am when they were near Arishinakunte, the truck hit their bike from behind. Manjunath lost control of the bike and fell on the left side of the bike along with his son.

However, Asha fell on the right side and came under the wheels of the truck. The vehicle ran over her head and she died on the spot, the officer added.
