Bengaluru: A woman and her six-year-old son drowned in a sump on an empty site in northeastern Bengaluru’s Yelahanka, police said.

Kavitha (30) was originally from Gauribidanur and had been working as a maid in Suggappa Layout in Yelahanka New Town police station jurisdiction.

The boy was playing by the sump and accidentally fell in. In an attempt to save her child, Kavitha jumped into the sump, which was about 10-foot-deep. Both drowned, police said.
