The Vijayanagar home-alone woman’s murder case has baffled the city police and they believe that it was the handiwork of a professional gang operating for a long time.

Sources said, there are similar cases reported from Central and Vivek Nagar police stations where home-alone women were killed in a particular fashion. Both the cases are still unresolved.

In all the three cases, the culprits have slit the throats of the women and walked away with valuables. But they have not ransacked the houses.

“The police have constituted five teams to crack the case, but there is very little progress. There are no vital clues”, said DCP (West) S N Sidramappa.

“We have a strong feeling that it may be a case of robbery as the nature of crime suggests so,” the DCP added.

On February 15, Suvarna, 31, a resident of 4th Cross Sanjeevininagar, Moodalapalya, and a native of S Rayapura in Anantpur district, Andhra Pradesh was found dead with her throat slit. She was married to Nagaraj, an electrical contractor. The couple had two children.
