City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari has issued a ‘no-objection’ to this effect.
But the management of these bars should have to obtain the necessary permission from the State Excise Department to keep bars open during the additional hours on December 31 night.
The police orders will also apply to hotels, eateries and restaurants not serving liquor. However, such establishments have to take precautions to ensure that no nuisance or disturbance is caused to neighbours by playing loud music during the New Year celebrations.
