Following public criticism and persuasion from the BBMP, the traffic police have agreed to allow parking on Church Street after installation of parking meters.

R Hithendra, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), tod DH: "The BBMP constructed bays for parking. Any motorist who comes to the street for shopping or dining is not able to use them as local shopkeepers park their vehicles there from morning until evening. These bays are not meant for these shopkeepers. Hence, we have decided to install parking meters, where no one can misuse the facility and those who park should pay the parking fee."

On March 6, Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar had issued a notification banning vehicle parking on Church Street to make it pedestrian-friendly.
