The HAL police on Saturday arrested the owner of YumLok hotel, Avinash Gupta, on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Two labourers who were cleaning a clogged septic tank at the restaurant in AECS Layout were asphyxiated to death on Tuesday.
The police had earlier arrested hotel manager Ayush Gupta, building caretaker Venkatesh, and senior health inspector Devaraj and his deputy Kalpana for issuing a licence to the establishment, which had violated several norms. Avinash had been absconding since the death of the two workers, Ramu (25) and Ravi (28).
Avinash was produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody till February 28.
