According to party sources, the BJP is banking on the Speaker to announce the disqualification of the 11 rebels so that the strength of the House is reduced to 213.  The party has already filed a petition seeking the disqualification of 11 rebel MLAs under Section 10(1) (a) of the Anti-Defection Law. The 11 rebels were issued show-cause notices by the Assembly secretariat on Friday

If the disqualification happens, then the BJP strength in turn will be reduced to 105. The magic number to win the vote of confidence due to the truncated strength of House will be 107. BJP has 105. Source said the party will entice five to six Opposition members to cross vote helping the govt to sail through.

The State Cabinet then will not recommend the Governor to prorogue the House. Which means in effect the session will continue to be in place thereby preventing the Opposition from moving a motion of no confidence. Only one motion of confidence/no confidence can be moved during a session.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said it was now clear that Congress and the JD(S) had been hand-in-glove in hatching a conspiracy to destabilise the government.
