The BJP has changed its KGF Assembly constituency candidate.

Instead of former MLA Y Sampangi, who was named the party candidate in the first list, the party has decided to field his daughter Ashwini, a ZP member from Parandahalli constituency.

The state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa handed over the B form to Ashwini at his Bengaluru residence on Thursday night. Ashwini will now take on former union minister K H Muniyappa’s daughter Roopa Shashidhar. Ashwini had defeated Roopa when the two faced the battle from Parandahalli ZP constituency.

Ever since the party announced its first list, the party was planning to change Sampangi as a petition seeking the stay on a corruption case involving him will come up for hearing on April 26.

Along with Ashwini, Dr Arivalagan too was an aspirant. Considering Sampangi’s popularity, the party decided to field his daughter.
