The BJP on Tuesday dubbed Congress leader Siddaramaiah as “Twitterramaiah” for his tweet criticizing the Narendra Modi administration after the Supreme Court reinstated Alok Verma as the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Siddaramaiah, who has an active Twitter handle (@siddaramaiah), wrote: “Narendra Modi government’s autocratic midnight coup & an attempt to subvert investigating institutions has received a major setback through SC judgement which reinstated Alok Verma back as CBI chief (sic).”

In response, the official Twitter handle of the BJP Karnataka pointed out that it was the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government that “subverted” the Lokayukta in the state.

“Dear Twitterramaiah, either you are short of memory or you have a split personality. On what moral grounds do you tweet about investigation agency when you yourself subverted a prompt institution like Lokayukta in Karnataka to make way for a crippled ACB,” the saffron party asked.
