“We have learnt enough lessons from the past experience,”  he told mediapersons.
Eshwarappa said: “It’s true that we had lured legislators of Opposition parties to our side in the past under inevitable circumstances. We had bitter experiences from such legislators.” The question of luring any legislator in the remaining one-and-half-year term of the government wouldn’t arise, he said.

He said people of Bellary Rural Assembly constituency have heaved a sigh of relief as the bypoll is likely to help them come out of the clutches of Reddy brothers. Besides, the bypoll would help in strengthening the party at the grassroots level in the district.

The party was under the impression that the former BJP ministers had developed Bellary Rural Assembly constituency on the lines of Bellary city. But, the villages lack even basic amenities such as toilets, he said.

“We have realised our mistakes,” Eshwarappa said.

He said the party is not bothered about Independent candidate Sriramulu’s plan to launch a new party.

“Let him become Prime Minister of India, we have nothing to do with it,” Eshwarappa said.
On MLA Karunakara Reddy’s absence during the campaign, he said: “We have used people whom we needed for the election campaign.”
