According to the suo motu FIR, police had given permission for staging a protest between 10 am and 5 pm on September 10. The protest, led by state BJP president B Y Vijayendra, was against the state government’s internal reservation policy for Scheduled Castes. It was to be strictly restricted to Freedom Park as per high court orders dated March 3, 2022.

Around 10 am, 4,000-5,000 party workers led by Vijayendra gathered for the protest. However, around 3 pm, the party’s former Kudachi MLA, P Rajeev, violated the court by disrupting public movements near the skywalk at Seshadri Junction.

He led around 200 protesters and sloganeered against the government.
