The Congress and the JD(S) are known for its caste, money and family politics and have been engaged in divide and rule policy, said Union Minister Prakash Javadekar who is also BJP's election in-charge for Karnataka assembly polls.

Speaking at the BJP special meeting here on Monday, he said, "If the JD(S) offers Rs 1,000 for a voter in the election, then the Congress would offer Rs 2,000. If the JD(S) offers Rs 2,000 then the Congress would offer Rs 3,000. The BJP is not engaged in family politics. The BJP workers should get ready to defeat the JD(S) and the Congress."

"The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have waived off the loans borrowed by farmers from nationalised banks. However, in Karnataka, the Congress-led government is pointing a finger at the Centre," he alleged.

"As many as 3,500 farmers have committed suicide during the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the last four and a half months. The drought has taken a toll on the farmers. The state government has failed to protect the interest of the farmers," he said.

Stating that no measures have been taken to solve the row over Datta Peeta, Javedkar said that the state government has failed to mitigate the water crisis as well. Four people have lost their lives in elephant attacks in Mudigere in the recent past. The elephants are entering villages in search of food. The authorities should plant bamboo inside the forest. The state has failed to utilise the grants given for planting bamboo inside the forest," said the Union minister.

"Congress was strong in Chikkamagaluru in the past. Now, it is the BJP's base. The party workers should strive for the victory of all the five assembly constituencies in the district," he said.
