Mahesh was visiting his relatives at Handenahalli on the occasion of the Singamma Devi festival in the village. On Friday, around 3 pm, Mahesh jumped into an open well to swim. But his head hit the pumpset motor and he drowned.
Residents of the village, on noticing that Mahesh did not emerge from the well, informed the Fire Brigade who rushed to the spot and searched for Mahesh’s body.
By Saturday morning, the Fire Brigade personnel managed to pump water out of the well and recovered the body of Mahesh.
