'B'lore-M'lore day train service soon'

He told media persons that he recently met Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa and apprised him about problems of passengers. The minister was also told about a day long bundh observed by people of Sakleshpur demanding running of day trains and also stoppage for all trains at Sakleshpur Railway Station.

Shivaram said that starting of day trains would boost tourism in Hassan and Sakleshpur and other parts on Mangalore- Bangalore route. “The minister instructed General Manager of South Western Railway Chaturvedi to start day trains between Hassan and Sakleshpur”.

Replying to the minister’s directions, the GM promised to operate day trains between Bangalore and Mangalore via Sakleshpur in next 15 days. The services would be introduced after working out time table and fixing tariff besides getting clearance from the authorities concerned. The train would leave Bangalore in the morning and reach Mangalore in the evening, he added.

Shivaram said that the minister has also appealed to speed up the works taken up in Kadur- Chikmagalur- Sakleshpur route.
