Excise Minister M P Renukacharya said on Saturday that former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and his supporters would not quit the BJP.

Renukacharya said: “It has been reported in a section of the press that the Yeddyurappa faction will quit the party if Sadananda Gowda does not step down by Monday. This is far from the truth.”

Renukacharya said that BJP national president Nitin Gadkari had promised to give a suitable position at an appropriate time to Yeddyurappa. Hence, there is no scope for a show of strength by the former chief ministers, the Minister said.

The meeting of the core committee comprising Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, State BJP chief K S Eshwarappa, Yeddyurappa and other leaders would be held on March 3 in Delhi.
