BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday assured the agitating farmers that he would hold talks with Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and party's central leadership and make sure that Mahadayi water-sharing issue would be resolved by December 15.

He was speaking to the farmers, who were protesting under the banner of Raitha Sena in front of former chief minister Jagadish Shettar at Keshwapur for the past three days.

The agitating farmers relented following the assurance by B S Yeddyurappa.
Yeddyurappa told the farmers that he would convince the Goan chief minister and BJP national president and would get a favourable order on Kalasa-Banduri nala diversion.

"It was the Congress which created obstacles for Karnataka from getting its share of Mahadayi. During Goa elections, AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi had added fuel to the fire by saying that, if voted to power, her party would not give a single drop of Mahadayi water to Karnataka. It is Congress which made matters worse by approaching the Supreme Court and tribunals," he complained.

I will ensure Karnataka get its share (7.5 tmcft) of Mahadayi water by December 15, Yeddyurappa said.
